ABOUT ME

Harriet is from Newcastle upon Tyne and discovered her love of theatre in a local community group at the age of 13, playing the Third Witch in Macbeth from under a blanket. As a chronically shy teenager, Harriet chose a Psychology Degree at the University of Liverpool as a ‘safer’ option and graduated in 2009.

Her passion for performing eventually overpowered her nerves and in 2011 she trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York, choosing crippling debt and pipe dreams over job security. Since her return to the UK, Harriet has performed in theatre, film and TV, most notably on projects with Ken Loach, Sky Studios and ITV.

As co-founder of award-winning Hooley Theatre, Harriet is dedicated to developing talent in the North East and improving access to theatre for local artists and communities. Harriet began writing for the company in 2019 in 2020 she was selected for BFI’s Script Lab and received mentoring from Aisling Bea through the BAFTA Connects scheme supporting women in TV and film.
